Filming Blog: Details For Location
Hey everyone, welcome back to another blog! Today we'll be starting our first production day. This project is much bigger than the last few I did so I'll be sure to take the production process much slower. The first thing I wanted to ensure was that the setting of our opening sequence was decided upon and able to be used. I was thinking of filming most of the sequence at my house since my kitchen fits the description and plan from our storyboard much better than my teammate's. So, the first thing I did was ensure that I had a cutting board and knife and that the space between the counter and sink was easy to film. I also checked to see if the side profile scenes of the open cupboard door would work without the background being too distracting. Next, I checked to see if my doorbell was functioning. It hadn't been used in a while, so I decided to ask for help in inspecting it and possibly fixing it. It sounded and worked fine, the only problem was it would get a little stuck when pressing it, thus delaying the sound. So, I cleaned it thoroughly to ensure that it would be of proper use before filming. Since I was already by the front door, I checked to see which door we would film for page 4 in our storyboard. My front door seemed to work fine, but just to be sure none of the other doors were a better choice, I headed to the two back door located near the garage of my house. The first one opened to a patio, so it wouldn't work very well and it was a french door so most of it was made of glass. The second door actually seemed to also be a good fit for the scene. This door had a much more appealing background than my front door, but there weren't many spots for a camera and not much space to walk forwards. I still have not made a decision as to what door will be used, but I'll keep in mind this back door in case I find a way to make it work so I can make a final decision next time. That's all for today, bye!
