Filming Blog: Wrapping It Up
Welcome back everyone! Today, I'll be talking about our final filming blogs for the process. For the last few scenes, I decided to film on a separate day because I thought a change in location might be needed. Up until this point, everything had been recorded all throughout my own house. However, in the storyboard, the last scenes are shown to be taken outside on the street and onto the road. My neighborhood can tend to be pretty busy, so I didn't think it'd be a good idea to film these scenes near my house. Instead, the last few scenes were recorded in Yasmin's neighborhood. I knew the streets by her house were used much less as we had filmed previous videos at her house. This gave me some prior knowledge to how it might work out so I could make predictions and act accordingly. For extra safety precautions, we recorded these scenes at a time of day in which not a lot of cars would be passing. I avoided rush hour or just times I knew more cars would be frequently passing. We recorded in intervals for as many scenes as possible for this reason as well. Additionally, I had to figure out what mask would be used for the person playing the villain in these scenes. To help with the issue of needing at least 3 people in order to film, I recruited a friend of ours - Camila - to play the villain. I suggested switching Yasmin and Camila between monitoring the camera and playing the villain so we had a couple options as well. This would give me more wiggle room when it came to editing or just in case I preferred one recording over the other. I also had brought a couple different masks to try out for the different versions of the shot. They would switch out masks and see which looked or feel better. Once the final decision of which version of the recording to use is made, I will also decide how I can tie a meaning into which mask was chosen. And that concluded our last filming day. I cannot wait to start on editing, until next time!
