The Final Filming Day

Hey everyone, welcome back to another production blog!

Our last filming day was on Saturday, December 3rd. The last few scenes depicted in the storyboard that had yet to be filmed took place in the car and directly outside the car. The car scenes were saved for last because we had to be sure we had access to a car - but once we did it was not an entirely smooth process. It was extremely humid that day - which would be typical Florida weather, but in the car it was excruciating. After realizing that the camera was going to have to be handheld for this scene, I attempted to adjust myself in the driver's seat and started practicing the motions I would need for the first scene. This proved to be very difficult as I would have to make sure each body motion was included in a short amount of time. On top of that, I also had to try and make the acting was as natural as possible. However, this was not the biggest of my worries. In order for me to fit into the frame of the camera as shown in the storyboard, Yasmin had to have the passenger door slightly open - but this also meant the sun shining through the open door made the exposure too high. To solve this we attempted to place the sun shades  to cover the slit in which the sun was shining through. And even with the entire physical setup finally solved, the music was now not connecting to the Bluetooth of the car - which was crucial for a scene in which the camera would pan to the song playing on the car radio. By the end of filming the scene inside the car, I was sweating and the heat was overwhelming. To cool down, we paused the filming to rest for a moment inside the house and ordered pizza. This also allowed time for the sun to set a little so the last scene that had to be recorded outside of the car would not interfere with the end product of the filming. For the last scene, which was a tracking scene directly outside the car, I had trouble slowing my pace to match the steadiness of the camera. But after a few different attempts at this scene, we achieved our desired version and headed back inside. This filming day took the largest toll on me due to the heat, so I was relieved to have concluded the production days. Next blog, I'll be talking about the editing process which will hopefully run smoothly. That's all for today, until the next one!
