What Video Editing For Our Commercial Looks Like

Welcome back to yet another production blog guys! Today, I'm going to be telling you a little bit about what my group and I had in mind for the editing of the commercial. Andres and I are in charge of sharing the general video editing process,  though we have not begun yet. Either way, we have been discussing the planning of the process. For today's blog, I will be telling you about what I had in mind when it comes to editing the first three scenes of our commercial - which were referenced in our storyboard. For the first scene, the editing will primarily depend on which take we decide to use. For one of the takes, the text messages that appear on the character's phone screen may need to be edited to pop up above the phone so the audience understands what the character is viewing. However, there is also a take utilizing an over-the-shoulder shot, so this may not be needed. When it comes to transition from the first scene to the second scene, I was considering using a fade in and out to ease the viewer into the next scene. In the second scene, there may need to be some editing done - though only minor changes. For example, I may need to cut the take short as I remember the scene was lengthier in comparison to other scenes. Other than that, I think this scene doesn't need much adjusting. Transitioning from the second to the third scene, I believe a jump- cut or a fading in and out of the scene would suffice. I haven't decided yet which I think looks better, so I'll be trying both before deciding. For the third scene, no editing needs to be done to the scene itself. However, transitioning from the third to the fourth scene, I was thinking about using a jump-cut as I believe the scenes themselves transition well. So far, with Yasmin focusing on the music editing for our commercial, I don't believe their is much that needs altering or adding onto when it comes to video editing. I may have to straighten or edit the visuals of some shots, but other than that, I believe the commercial will come together nicely. I still haven't decided what program to use, however, I know I have some options like iMovie. I'm pretty excited to be editing the commercial soon and see it all come together, especially since I have seen the soundtrack and music that's being considered by Yasmin. But that's all for today's post! Until next time, I cannot wait to update you guys.
