A Little Bit About Me

    My name is Giulia and I am the creator of this blog! For my first post, I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me as a person. A few things about me, I love to bake, journal, and listen to music in my free time - sometimes all at once. My favorite band is "Beach Bunny", even though the band isn't the genre of music I listen to the most. I am employed at Publix, and the money I earn is how I pay for my Spotify premium, which I use to listen to music. I love to listen with headphones because it puts me in another world and fully immerses me. In fact, I spend more than half of my day with headphones on, if my dog doesn't interrupt. I own one dog, Andy, but I wish I also had a cat and snake because they're my favorite animals. However, I can't own either of the two because my dad is allergic to cats and my mom wouldn't want to feed the snake live mice. Speaking of my parents, both of them are from Italy - along with the rest of my family. My older sister, Sarah, and I are the first people to be born in America, making me about 80% Italian.

    Another fact about me is I love nicknames. I usually go by Lux around my friends and one of them even likes to call me Red sometimes. If it were up to me, I would have a new nickname every time I dyed my hair - which happens pretty frequently. I bleached my hair for the first time in October of 2021 and dyed it red shortly after. Since then, I have cut my own bangs, dyed it pink four times, dyed it green twice, bleached it once again, and cut it short all at home. While it wasn't in this exact order, it all has happened in under a year. While I do not have many interesting facts about my personal life, I believe I have a number of interesting hobbies. I even rollerblade. Nevertheless, no matter what the hobby is, I use it as an escape as it helps me relax - like this blog. There is no better remedy to boredom than a blogpost.

  How Does Your Product Use or Challenge Conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? Our product might challenge typical conventions as it does include the typical animated closeup of the gum pack at the end of the commercial. In most of the gum commercials that we reviewed, the final scene was a close-up shot of the gum pack in front of a green screen - often including animated movements as well. In our commercial, however, we decided to make the final close-up shot of the pack of gum recorded by hand. We did this for consistency so the commercial flowed. However, it also represents some common aspects found in the average gum commercial. A common theme in these advertisements is bringing together a social group or pair. They represent the common issue of facing obstacles when socializing and provide a solution through the gum, allowing the gum to represent common ground for all parties to come together on. Filming Blog: Getting through the first scene

 Welcome back everyone! Today, I'll be telling you guys about my fourth day of production for this project. In my last blog, I talked about the final details of preparation that was taken prior to filming and  mentioned the first scene. For this production blog, however, I'll be talking about all the scenes we were able to film inside, which would be about half the scenes. As previously mentioned, scene 1 is stationed in the kitchen. I knew I had to be cutting some type of food on the cutting board, but I had to ensure it was easy to slice through and would not result in being a waste of food. I decided to use some fruit as I could hold the plum in my hand while cutting. This motion of simply cutting the fruit took a few tries to make it seem more natural, but once I got the hang of it, it became easy. The fruit even ended up being a snack for later! Ever Been Scared of Your Nanny?

  Hey guys, so the next step we took in researching our title was to watch an example of an opening sequence from a horror movie. We used the website Art of the Title and watched the opening sequence from the movie "Nanny." 1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? The titles displayed during the opening sequence were "Amazon Studios Presents," production companies, and "a film by" (producer). 2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? The images prioritized are of a woman laying down with a spider crawling on her face. The woman has her eyes closed for the majority of the time, until the very end when they fly open and she gasps. 3. What connotations do these images carry? The women lying down seems at first to be peaceful, however, the presence of the spider carries a negative connotation. Spider's are typically thought of as terrifying creatures and symbolize fear.
