Final Task

Image
Hey everyone! After many hard days of planning, filming, and editing, this is the final product! I'm proud to present "The Game" opening sequence. I look forward to doing similar projects in the future. I've learned a lot from this experience and hope to apply it later on.

Editing Blog: Re-Edit

Image
Hey everyone, welcome back to another blog! I am now almost done with the entire editing process, so that's very exciting. Last time, I finished up the titles and music. Theoretically, this should've been the final touches. But, after looking at it once more, I  realized I had a couple more things to fix. For one, the music that was being used in the first 15 seconds of the opening sequence had to be replaced. I was unable to get in contact with the artist in the past and had to find an alternative. I began by removing the audio I placed in the first 15 seconds with our new sound. This one was found on Royalty free music. Once I had done this, I reviewed all the scenes once more. This is when I noticed that in the final scene, the title placement was not working well. It looked messy and was barely visible. While I loved the idea of having the title placed on the weapon to be better incorporated, it was not working. So, I decided to place it in the background on the fence and...

Editing Blog: Titles and Audio

Image
Another day, another editing blog. Welcome back everyone! Today, I'll be wrapping up the editing process by working on sound a title placements. To finish all the visuals, I decided to leave any auditory editing for last. I began by pulling up the storyboard I made prior to filming and consulted it for the placement of of the titles. After reviewing this, I had to play around with the options for editing I had on Capcut. The font, size, and color of the titles were all things I also had to double check. One by one, I placed the titles in their respective places. However, I also had to see in what order they had to be written in. Once I was able to grow confident in my editing, the rest went smoothly. Sound editing was next. The songs and sounds had been picked out prior to editing, but it was still one of the most nerve wracking parts. Especially with the way they I wanted to switch between non diegetic and diegetic sound. I had to play around with the sound as well as I just had a...

Editing Blog: Peer Review

Image
Hey everyone, its me again. Today is gonna be all about some of my process while editing. As mentioned in the last blog, I started editing by combining all the clips together. The next step, was to review everything and add transitions where they were needed. Most of the scenes did not need much editing in terms of a transition as they were filmed in a manner to transition smoothly. In addition to this, many of the cuts were jumpcuts. This was done to keep in line with the horror genre. Once all the basics of editing was finished for the base video, I exported it and sent it to a friend for a peer review. Yasmin and I sent it to two different people to see what should have been fixed. In my case, the person who reviewed the video thought that the shift between the second to last clip and the last clip was too quick. The transition is smooth and the cut isn't that noticeable. However, the pacing is off compared to the rest of the video. At first, I thought this was a simple fix. Jus...

Editing Blog: Combining the Clips

Image
Welcome back everyone to another blog! After many days of filming, I will finally be able to start the editing now. I've been anticipating this as all this filming can  make me a little weary. However, editing is arguably my favorite part, so I'm glad I can do something I am good at.  To begin, I figured I'd primarily use a program I am familiar with - Capcut. I'll probably end up mixing several different programs as I continue down the editing process, but for now this program will do. For the beginning process, all I did was put the clips together. This is one of the easiest steps, but obviously crucial to the rest of the editing. If the base of the video is not properly combined, then I won't have a strong foundation to build upon. I spent about 2 or 3 hours reviewing the clips, putting them together, going back, shortening, and so on. I had already swiped through which clips might work best, but now that I was actually editing, I reviewed them again to see if s...

Filming Blog: Wrapping It Up

Image
Welcome back everyone! Today, I'll be talking about our final filming blogs for the process. For the last few scenes, I decided to film on a separate day because I thought a change in location might be needed. Up until this point, everything had been recorded all throughout my own house. However, in the storyboard, the last scenes are shown to be taken outside on the street and onto the road. My neighborhood can tend to be pretty busy, so I didn't think it'd be a good idea to film these scenes near my house. Instead, the last few scenes were recorded in Yasmin's neighborhood. I knew the streets by her house were used much less as we had filmed previous videos at her house. This gave me some prior knowledge to how it might work out so I could make predictions and act accordingly. For extra safety precautions, we recorded these scenes at a time of day in which not a lot of cars would be passing. I avoided rush hour or just times I knew more cars would be frequently passi...
